keeping up

Posted in There's {a} Way

Happy Friday! When donning your “casual wear” why not try spicing things up a bit by adding in a little shimmer and sparkle. Accessorising with a glitzy belt and pin help to feminise an otherwise standard cargo jacket. A metallic wrap or top layered underneath adds an unexpected contrast to the utilitarian aspect of the jacket. A great print scarf completes the look with just the right touch of whimsy! Perfect for a lazy Saturday brunch and then a bit of wandering through a museum. Have a fabulous weekend! Cheers!

Cloud Cuckoo Land

Cloud Cuckoo Land is another little gem of a vintage store in one of my favourite shopping areas, Camden Passage. Almost like stepping into a shoebox, the space is a little tight but filled to the brim with beautifully selected dresses, coats, sweaters, scarves and jewellery that span the decades. My personal favourite are the to die for 1920′s flapper dresses!  Everything is in great condition and the pricing reasonable especially when compared to other vintage stores in the area. It is run by a charming woman who will gladly offer suggestions and has a great knowledge of the pieces. It is also right next door to Be Dazzle where you can add some glitz to your newly purchased ensemble!

a hint of Spring

Posted in There's {a} Way

Hello and happy Monday! With a hint of warm weather in the air, I could not resist pulling out my new current obsession, mint green patent loafers! Oh happy feet! The perfect way to slowly segue into warmer weather is to gradually introduce Spring pastels into your wardrobe and put the right foot forward in a new pair of jazzy shoes. Find a shoe style that will work best with your lifestyle and your wardrobe. These flats were made for a full day filled with wandering around London.  I also can not wait to pair them with flirty feminine numbers adding a fun masculine element to an ensemble. Cheers!

Channeling James Dean

Posted in There's {a} Way

There is just something about putting on a black leather jacket with a white t-shirt that always makes me think of James Dean and I love it. When inspired by a person and creating an ensemble as an homage to them, pick out a few classic and key elements that define them. Try not to re-create every detail of a specific outfit because there is a fine line between classic and costume-y (creative and delusional as well).  Because my inspiration is a man, rather than opt for an all masculine attire I mixed it up with a feminine cut trouser in a typical menswear fabric and accessorised with a touch of sparkle with the belt and earrings. A red pair of heels is the final rebel touch to add a bit of intrigue. Have a great weekend! Cheers!
