Formal Cool

Posted in There's {a} Way

Hello!! Happy Friday! Rounding out the week is the last take on elevating the same ensemble by changing up the accessories and shoes. Today it is styled for a more formal occasion such as a cocktail party, art gallery opening, or somewhere where the dress code is “chic.” I remember in 6th grade receiving an invitation to a dance where the dress code was chic and I asked my mother what “chick” dressing meant. Quite a tall order for an 11 year old.   Anyways…..opting for a pair of metallic heels with stripes adds an interesting mix matched contrast with the circular patterned printed trousers.  I removed the ankle straps around the shoes because they competed to much with the clean hemline of the trousers and fashioned them into a belt to add a little more of the same.  With the jewellery I first tied the turquoise colour that is present in the pattern on the trousers with the turquoise necklace and then added on a few more to glam it up. Hope you enjoyed the theme this week. Leave a comment with a “yay” or “nay” if it is something you want to see again (or not)! Have a great weekend! Cheers!

Office Cool

Posted in There's {a} Way

Hello!  Today’s second take on changing up the look of an outfit by swapping out the shoes and accessories is styled for a day at the office.  Changing out the loafers for a pair of comfortable and interesting heels is step one. Next, by adding bolder and mismatched but complementary jewellery, it takes the look up a few notches on the chic scale and elevates the overall interest of the look.  I have also added in an optional third item of clothing that really adds a polished touch, a blue blazer, tying everything together into a sassy gal on the go. Just hope the rest of the office gets the memo….

(I saw a squirrel…. that is where the similarities between me and my dog end…maybe.)

The Holly Bush

Posted in Restaurants & Bars

The Holly Bush is an amazing English pub nestled away in the heart of Hampstead.  It is an uphill trek that is well worth it once you have arrived.  On the numerous occasions I have frequented the establishment the food has always been excellent and is comparably priced. They specialise in hearty portions that serve up a taste of local British cuisine in typical old style pub surroundings. Some of my favourites are the Scotch Egg and any of the British pies that are served with amazing mustard mashed potatoes. I highly recommend it if you are looking for something a little more off the beaten path. Also a quick note on British service. It is customary here for you to flag down your server when you are ready to order, need anything, or are ready for the bill. So do not be shy or else you will be waiting. Forever. Cheers!

Casual Cool

Posted in There's {a} Way

Hello lovelies!  Hope you had a marvelous weekend! This week I am trying out a new idea which came about when someone recently asked me how to transform an outfit for different occasions.  My immediate answer was accessories and shoes! You can easily elevate an outfit depending upon the type of jewellery and shoes you wear.  This week I will attempt to show you how by wearing the same outfit, but for three different occasions.

First up is the casual look.  As I often say, casual does not mean you have to abandon all sense of style and wear leggings and Uggs. (eek!)  The basics of the ensemble for the week are a great pair of printed trousers and a white silk blouse. Two versatile pieces that can be worn for a variety of occasions due to their chic nature. Styling the outfit with a minty green pair of loafers adds an unexpected colour combination pop. Keeping the jewellery simple by layering a silver and gold necklace personalises the look. A large brown clutch and a pair of shades are the finishing touches to take you out and about while running errands or meeting a friend for a quick coffee.  Cheers!

Think Pink

Posted in There's {a} Way

Happy Friday lovelies!  Hope you had a wonderful week! My last stop in Ireland was the Fota Wildlife Park, just a quick train ride from the Cork city center.  The animals are all essentially cage free (except for the cheetahs) and you can wander by on the designated paths for some great close up adventure. If you are an animal lover like me I highly recommend it!  When traveling and walking a bit more than normal I think it is key to bring different comfortable shoe options so that you can give your barking pups a break. Also another tip (I picked up from my father) is when you are visiting crowded areas with a group and you have no phone to get in touch with one another if separated, wear something bright so you are easy to spot!  Think Pink! Have a fabulous weekend! Cheers!
