My Marylin Moment

Happy eve before New Year’s Eve! The final showstopper of the week is this little vintage stunner that I found in Camden Passage. It stopped me in my tracks as a montage reel of old Hollywood beauties sashayed across my mind to the song “There’s No Business Like Showbusiness.” It was in decent condition but needed some work done tying up loose ends and re-beading some sections. So it became a tedious labour of love.

I love wearing vintage. The clothes are such a piece of craftsmanship as they were made to last.  People did not rush out to buy something new for every Saturday night as we do today.  I love imagining the life of the outfit and how it had its moment with each previous owner….who wore it and where they were going and why. And of course, wearing vintage you are wearing a special one of a kind that is sure to set you apart.

With a showstopping dress such as this it is best to keep accessories to a minimum. I opted for a pair of green earrings to add a bit of color and a pair of metallic heels to subtly blend into the dress.  I hope you each have your own stunning and safe New Year’s Eve and best wishes for 2012!! Cheers!!
