Ottolenghi

Ottolenghi is one of my favorite places to eat in London. It is what a restaurant should be: fresh food, inventive combinations, a great atmosphere and unobtrusive service. Their philosophy “requires that everything is hand-crafted with extreme care and attention, from basic raw ingredients.”  The result is always a culinary delight with  delicious dishes in the perfect portions for sharing amongst your party. They have four locations in London and I have frequented the one in Islington as I make it a must see and eat whenever guests are in town. Below is a photographic sampling of their menu which changes frequently. If you are in the neighborhood and can only pop by for a second be sure to grab one of their cookies. They are such a wonderful treat to brighten your day and will surely be enough to entice you back through the doors for a sit down meal!

Beetroot (£8.00)

Yellow fin, line-caught seared tuna, wrapped in nori and panko with wasabi cream (£9.50) *highly recommend*

Char grilled English filet of beef (£9.80)

Pan fried duck breast and Peking leg with polenta and tamarind spiced red cabbage (£11.00)

Tea smoked lamb cutlets with miso burnt aubergine, pickled Jerusalem artichoke and jalapeno sauce (£12.00)

Lentil, sweet potato, chickpea, okra and tomato dahl with mint yoghurt and cumin puri (£10.00)

  1. I’m a photo editor in New York and I’d like to discuss the possibility of using two of your photos from this column in this week’s issue of our food magazine Real Eats. Could you send me your email so I can give you further details? Thanks.
